Award presentation on Ethics from the Executive Director of the Center for Ethics and Self Value Orientation (CESVO), Prince Salih Musa Yakubu to the Chairman, Kosofe Local Government.
Hon. Afolabi Babatunde Sofola and other principal officers of the council were recently commended by (CESVO) for their exemplary leadership. The council chieftains were awarded after a thorough investigation was carried out to assess the council’s value system.
The Center for ethics and self-value orientation is a Nigerian-based international independent anti-corruption NGO. It is a non-state actor that exposes corruption, provides ethical education, whilst promoting ethical leadership and engaging in self-value orientation of global citizens.
The Executive Director, Prince Musa Yakubu said, “we at CESVO are secret investigators that annually engage in the conduct of annual independent secret assessment, survey, investigations, and research on the policy and project performances of government at all levels, including the character evaluation of leaders in public MDA’s and organizations privately or publicly owned. We expose corruption and in the process honor those who show leadership in accordance with ethical standards, we advise where necessary and we build capacity of workers toward strengthening institutional capacity for effective and efficient public service delivery”.

“In all of the above thematic areas, Hon. Sofola has proven and shown indicators of leadership performance in 10 items which qualified him for this award, and ranked 1st overall having cumulatively scored above a benchmark of 79% in our ethical assessment criteria making the council the least corrupt in Lagos state ,” Prince Yakubu added.
“Ours is to thank and appreciate people doing us proud while putting public criminals on their toes for holding us down for decades in our quest to develop as a nation. We have continuously held leaders accountable for over 15 years now and would not be deterred until our country becomes ethically grounded in all ramification,” Prince Yakubu reiterated.
Reacting to the presentation of award to the council and its principal officers, the Chairman, Hon. Sofola expressed his delight and said he had never met the organizers of the award before. Unlike other bodies that attach money to awards, this organizer has not asked us for money. I want to advise other bodies going around giving people awards and collecting money to stop it. It is called selling of award, give awards based on merit, then the award is credible.
The Chairman was thereby decorated and given the title ‘Integrity Icon of Nigeria – (IION) while the Leader of the Legislative arm, Hon Onayemi County; the Secretary of the Local Government, Hon. Yomi Ologbonori; The Head of Administration, MBS Arole and the Council Treasurer, Mr Babatunde Olugbuyi were issued a professional ethics compliance award certificate for being service compliant.
In addition, a letter of intent to train one hundred (100) of the councils staff on leadership and ethics compliance for free was presented to the Chairman.
Dignitaries at the occasion were the Royal Fathers, the APC KOSOFE L.G. members, the CDC, the Legislative Arm, the Executive Committee members, Management team, NULGE EXCO and members of the staff.
