Oshitelu FC has won the final match of the 9th edition of Oluwa Ni Nshola football tournament played yesterday at Araromi Youth Development Center, Gbagada in Kosofe Local Government Area.

Osiitelu FC who placed third in the 8th edition of the grassroots football competition defeated their hard-fighting opponent, United FC by a lone goal scored midway into the first half.

The goal was scored by Idowu Aremu from a long range shot from 25 yards which found the back of the net, two minutes after fluttering his first opportunity at goal. The goal sent the expectant crowd into a wild jubilation.

The match ended 1-0 in first half. However, United FC came back strongly to equalize in the second half, piling great pressure on the defence of Ositelu FC but could not find the necessary breakthrough.

As the match drew close to its end the goalkeeper of United FC made a couple of wonderful saves to keep the scoreline at one nil while United also missed a golden opportunity to draw level in the added time when their number 2 jersey shot over the bar when he was one on one with the goalkeeper.

In the third place match played earlier, Billionaire FC trounced Achievers FC by 2 goals to nothing. The two goals were scored by the highest goal scorer of the tournament, Isaac Elvis.

The winner of the tournament Ositelu FC went home with a cash prize of N700,000, United FC received N400,000 while billionaire went away with N200,000.

The highest goal scorer of the tournament was Isaac Elvis of billionaire FC with 6 goals while the Most Valuable Player of the tournament went to Ogunleye Ayodeji of Ositelu FC.

The final match of the prestigious grassroots tournament was graced by a member of Lagos House of Assembly, representing Kosofe Constituency 1, Hon. Sanni Ganni Babatunde Okanlawon.

Hon. Okanlawon who presented medals and trophies to the teams praised the initiator of the tournament, Hon. Lanre Oladunjoye, in a chat with newsmen after the match, describing him as a forward-looking, resourceful and creative person empowering the youth.

He said: “it is a very good one, laudable initiative. We can only encourage Hon. Oladunjoye to continue in this stead. If he does, the sky will be his limit. Because to have come up with this initiative which is impactful to youths and the society and is also improving the economy of the youth, is laudable. What we are seeing this evening, if translated into naira and kobo is a lot of money. Whoever wins this match will go home with lots of money.

“So it is a huge amount of money he has invested into this cause. It goes to show that he is a very forward-looking, resourceful and creative person who believes in the empowerment of youths.

“If more and more of this activity can be galvanized, the restlessness we are experiencing in the society will be abated and if more and more of this initiative is strengthened, we stand to stimulate and reflate the economy. And the society will be the best for it.”About 10,000 fans from across the length and breadth of Lagos state stormed Araromi Youth Development Center, Gbagada to watch the final match of glamorous grassroots football competition amid great fanfare and razzmatazz.
